Awaking from their first good nights sleep in two days they get some shopping done. Reading a notice calling a town meeting they go to the town hall. Makfire causes the throng of people to pause outside by getting his bear to dance. Osgoth makes further cruel suggestions for entertainment which are ignored. Morlaf sidles in and Henrey tells of a winged creature seen moving between the rooftops. With Makfire show finished outside the crowd files in and Henrey tells them all about the monster. The debate is short as an elf woman calls from the assembly that it should be killed. Ezemarn enters then and says he has identified it as a gargoyle through scrying. Osgoth and Makfire explain that this ‘monster’ is a team member and need not be worried about. The meeting ends abruptly and Makfire arranges for a loan cart to take them north.
They get to Borderdale and find it deserted. Stabling the horse they quickly steal everything left at the trading post and Hydrix sets it alight. An empty house is searched but they find the occupants left without haste. They are breaking into the inn when they get attacked by a pack of Zombie wolves but Hydrix uses a powerful new spell to almost single-handedly wipe them out. They lock themselves in the inn and settle down for the night.
Hydrix is awakened by nervous whinnies from the horses. She gets everyone else up and goes back to bed. The horses start to scream and Makfire rushes outside but gets attacked by a bear zombie. Once this is hacked apart they rush to the stables. The horses are stamping at something in their stalls but they dither while Osgoth goes upstairs to fetch the Mask of Fangs. One horse collapses before they open the stalls and use the mask to force the horse into the inn. They all run back and get some sleep.
In the morning they hook up the horse to the cart and Hydrix takes a look in the stall. She is attacked by 3 tiny zombies but they are quickly squished. The horse corpse is beheaded just to make sure. The idea is raised for Osgoth to help pull the cart and Morlaf even casts Bulls Strength but they all end up walking.
They read the familiar rock and are attacked by the ghost of Ned but using her new favourite spell Hydrix destroys it with a gesture.
They get to Stripshire and find that Arrun has gone north again. An aborted search leaves them at the inn paying old debts.
