Amongst the frivolity and celebrations after the "cure" of the "plague" a small festival is held. A well needed rest for the misfits and indeed all the populace of the Wendarian capital. The Misfits of course decide to go each for their own reasons. L has caught wind of the presence of a stage and of course the opportunity to mingle with royalty. T gets his best bow out for the archery contest, B dons his best armour hoping to pick a fight or three, G is present just because he seems to, mysteriously acquired some bumps and bruises and does not want to be alone. J on the other hand DOES want to be alone and she soon does so.
Many a splendour sight awaits the party. A bouncing, multicoloured, rube jester, highly reminiscent of Ghondar, a magnificent zoo with a Griffin, and of course L. in a tear-jerking performance, that woos the crown in a manner now commonplace for a Lawrencian performance!
Upon reaching the arena B join in! G is quite taken with the whole idea nad join in, after he grovels for a brief heal from B.
First up is B who is pair up against a ferocious Ogre. The ogre’s brute force and his clumsy tree-trunk is no match for the cunning, experienced fighter. Soon the ogre is chopped to shreds and then catches fire from one of the many traps in the arena that B avoids deftly.
Next is G who is put up against 4 troglodytes which he disposes of rather magnificently, inadvertently killing the one. Both B + G are loved by the blood-thirsty crowds. Their performance, however, impressive though it was, could not prepare anyone for what was about to happen in the archery ground.
B and T took place. B did ok-ish but was eventually beaten by the keen-eyed elves. T, on the other hand had a performance that is very likely to make his name immortal. He scored 10 or so consecutive bull’s-eyes and of course went on to win the archery contest with a score unprecedented. He was approached by a messenger of the king and he (with the rest of the misfits) was invited to a kingly meal and a face to face meeting with the king himself. Not surprisingly he won various ornamental commemorative ornaments and of course rapturous applause at first and then wide-eyed, wide-mouthed looks from everyone there.
Then they went to the clerics tent. Those who have a deity paid their respects and then we all joined the table where the wisdom and insight as well as the experience of the practical world was put to the test. Many a wondrous and challenging riddle was heard and many a happy as well as productive moments were had by all.
Eventually the festival to a close. L was still on stage loving every second of it and so was the crowd. J briefly appeared when T was at the archery range, then vanished again. The party left and prepared for the evening when they were about to meet the price of Wendar for sure and possibly even the king! (?)
Briefly:
The plague having been expelled by … the story has it the clerics and the militia, everyone is celebrating and of course the misfits are too. Even G! From their usually magnificent presence at the festival they even get an invite to the royal court! Lawrence will be in his element. Breylec has shown he can behave like a gentleman when in the appropriate company (just keep him away from beer!), Thanodel is a kind and gentle elf, in his element. But will the eccentric monk and the gloomy necromancer mange to behave themselves appropriately??!
